During the summer of 1998, Denise stumbled into DJing after being
taught by mentor Thomas Trouble on a whim. Her natural ability behind
the decks got her spinning at her first show just two weeks later.
By the time 1999 rolled around, Denise quickly became one of the
most beloved and sought after DJs in the Bay Area, playing nearly
50 shows within her first year of spinning. Word has traveled quickly,
as she has performed all across North America's West Coast as well
as Hawaii. Today she dominates the Bay Area rave scene and can be
inarguably called the area's premier hard house DJ. You can find
her spinning anywhere from 2 to 6 times a week, rocking the crowds
like she always does! Her greatest influences are Thomas Trouble
for showing her the ropes, DRC for her enthusiasm behind the decks,
and Donald Glaude for his ability to arouse a crowd like no other
can.
Denise always has something up her sleeve. Earlier this year she
released her fourth solo mix tape that is the first in a series
entitled the "Retro Mixes." These compilations will feature
older tracks that never quite made it to the recording booth. "Deeper,"
as this first compilation is entitled, is a break from the norm,
containing mellower hard house and house tracks. Also, in order
to further expand her horizons, she put together her first house
compilation, "Live at the Howe House," in March. This
is available as one of many downloadable MP3s on her web site. "Live
at the Howe House Volume 2" is well underway & will be
released this winter. This summer Denise released her first promotional
CD entitled "Theundergroundurbansound," a fine blend of
serious yet funky UK hard house.
Since the moment she first touched the tables on that unforgettable
day in '98, Denise has considered DJing to be her fate. She doesn't
do it for the fame; she does it because she loves to make people
happy through her music. So far, so good, but she still has a lot
more to do!
In merely 3½ years of DJing, she has played alongside many
other musical greats, including, but not limited to: Paul Oakenfold,
Binary Finary, BT, Dave Ralph, DJ Ziad, Christopher Lawrence, Charles
Feelgood, Carl Cox, DJ Sneak, Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, Superfast Oz,
Mark Farina, Richard "Humpty" Vission, DRC, Dieselboy,
Q-Bert, Mixmaster Mike, Gene Farris, Stacey Pullen, Angel Alanis,
and last but not least, Thomas Trouble.
