Cherry T
Niki Selken moved to Santa Cruz, CA from LA in 1998 to attend UCSC. She
graduated with a BA in Theater Arts (2002) and a one year graduate
degree in Performing arts (2003). A Butoh and physical theater
performer who danced with dance company Ragesties in Edinburgh,
Scotland at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2002), the largest arts
festival in the world. She has also performed at the DNA lounge in San
Francisco and various local venues. She has been interested in music
and making mix tapes since the 8th grade, but began to pursue DJing at
a local club, Crash Course about 6 months ago. She has played at the
Box, a local gothic club, at private parties, most recently at a gothic
wedding. She performed an improvisational Butoh piece along side Rick
Walker, North Indian Bansuri flautist Deepak Ram and the visual digital
animator David Tristram at the Leap day Loopers concert in Santa cruz.
She spins electro, Electroclash, New Wave, Ghettoelectro, Gothic,
Industrial, EBM and Britpop. Niki would like to pursue music in this
aspect and in live performance, and she hopes to do more collaborative DJ/
Dance performances in the future.
